Spyro Mousses, Ph.D.

Dr. Spyro Mousses is the director of the Pharmaceutical Genomics Division of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Arizona. He has pioneered a convergence of scientific technologies to identify contextual vulnerabilities that could be exploited for drug discovery and to guide drug development. Dr. Mousses has invented a cellular pharmacogenomic approach for genome wide analysis of the causal role that genes play in response to drug exposure. His laboratory has established an extensive infrastructure for the high throughput analysis of small compounds and siRNA in cell based assays combined with whole genome and transcriptome molecular profiling.

Dr. Mousses graduated from the University of Toronto in 1998. He worked as a Staff Scientist at the NHGRI/NIH and joined TGen in 2002. Dr. Mousses moved his Cancer Drug Discovery lab from Gaithesburg, MD to the Mayo Scottsdale campus, which he still heads today within the Pharmaceutical Genomics Division of TGen.

Jeffrey Trent, Ph.D.

Dr. Jeffrey Trent is President and Scientific Director of the Translational Genomics Research Institute or TGen. TGen’s mission is to make and translate genomic discoveries into advances in human health. Prior to forming TGen, Dr. Trent served for ten years at the worlds largest biomedical research institute – the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. There, he founded and directed the laboratory division of the federal agency in charge of coordinating and finalizing the Human Genome Project.

Dr. Trent has dedicated his career to fighting cancer. His research career has provided important insights into the genetic basis of cancer and has led to improved diagnosis and treatments that are more effective for those battling breast cancer, melanoma, and other forms of this debilitating disease. He is the author of over 300 manuscripts in the scientific literature, has received numerous honors and awards, and sits on the editorial boards of a dozen scientific publications.

Daniel D. Von Hoff, M.D.

Dr. Von Hoff is a clinical oncologist and oncology drug developer who has devoted his career to translational medicine. He has conducted national clinical trials with more than 200 new antineoplastic and biologic agents. Dr. Von Hoff served on President Bush's Nation Cancer Advisory Board and the FDA's Oncology Advisory Committee. He is the past President of the American Association for Cancer Research, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member and past board member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Von Hoff has also served as editor of numerous scientific publications. He is the founder and Editor Emeritus of Investigational New Drugs- The Journal of New Anticancer Agents as well as the current Editor-in-Chief of Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. Previously he was the associate editor of Cancer Research and Clinical Cancer Research. Dr. Von Hoff has also served on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Medicine, Anticancer Drugs, Oncology, Annals of Oncology, and nine other scientific journals. Dr. Von Hoff received his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
